HAZARD MANAGEMENT
Whilst the Management Commitment and Policy, Planning Implementation provide the foundations to build the WHS & IM System, the hazard management enable the organisation to build the walls of the system. A hazard management program will determine what hierarchy of controls that will be required including the provision of safe work procedures (SWP), safe works procedures (SOP) or in construction work environments safe work method statements (SWMS).
Safety SA can conduct risk assessment in consultation with workers and these risk assessment can include plant, hazardous manual tasks, work systems and environments (staff duties) hazardous substances and outdoor environments such a ware house distribution yards/loading bays, warehouse fork truck access areas.
Once the hierarchy of controls has been applied Safety SA can develop SWP, SOP, SWIMS and also a corporate WHS Hazard Register
SWP, SOP, SWIMS with their safe work statements can have built in behavioural improvement strategies.
N.b. Once the Hazard Management Program is completed the walls are ready for the house roof.
